Antique Nippon 13 Piece Hand Painted Porcelain Sweetmeat Set Green Lacquer Box

Rare complete antique Japanese Nippon porcelain sweetmeat condiment set comprising 13 hand-painted porcelain pieces in their original dark green lacquered wooden box. The set includes one large central round bowl and 12 wedge-shaped individual dishes, all hand-painted with a romantic tropical coastal scene: swaying palm trees, a sailboat on calm water, and a warm coral-pink sunset sky, each accented with gold trim.  The original lacquer box lid is decorated with hand-painted cranes in white against a deep green background - a beautifully complementary piece of Japanese decorative lacquerware. The porcelain pieces nest perfectly in the circular tray within the box.  Nippon marked pieces were produced in Japan for American export between approximately 1891 and 1921, under the McKinley Tariff Act. This makes the set over 100 years old - a genuine antique.  Condition: The porcelain dishes are in good condition, minus one which has a considerable crack in it.
