Antique Hand-Painted Nippon Floral Porcelain Sugar Bowl and Creamer
Nippon
Set of creamer and sugar bowl, *Please note sugar bowl lid has been mended , see pics. From Curio App: “Nippon porcelain refers to ceramics produced in Japan for export, primarily between 1891 and 1921. During this period, Japanese artists blended traditional Eastern techniques with Western tastes, often utilizing hand-painted florals and heavy gold accents. These pieces were highly popular in American and European markets as affordable luxury items. The Rococo Revival style seen here is characterized by asymmetrical curves, ornate handles, and nature-inspired motifs. The use of a pale yellow ground was a common technique to add warmth and depth to the hand-painted floral elements. Such sets were typically used for formal tea services in middle-class households.”
